Janey was born in White Harbour, to a fisherman and his wife. Her father was killed by a man attempting to steal their horse when she was 13. Her mother, left with little money and not much of a choice, moved them in with a drunken blacksmith who gave them a place to stay. In return, Janey's mother did everything for him for the next 10 years until she died of unknown causes.

Janey, knowing what her life would be if she stayed in White Harbour, decided to run. She made her way to Winterfell, remembering her father told her it was always a place she could go if she needed aid. She met a servant, Skye, right away, and was blessed to have been given the job of House Stark Servant and a place to stay.
